As most of you know by now, DomWars is no longer being updated, in fact the site has been down since the STGD removed it from their server. As you can tell, I haven't been paying much attention to it. As I still get the odd e-mail about the mod, I decided to put the site back online, so at least those who want to play can obtain the last edition of the mod and it's final patch.
As to the possibility of me returning to modding SFC3? It's unlikely, I was burned out on modding about 6 months before I disappeared, I was struggling to get any work done on the mod at all. Although I really did want to do DomWars V5, I simply had neither the time nor the energy to actually do the "grunt work" that is necessary to produce a mod of this size.
Before I left, there were too many arguments, too many disputes, too many disagreements. In the end, it was simply not worth the hassle to actually continue with the mod. While the majority of SFC3 players were pretty good, there were simply too many bad apples. Far more than there should be given the size of the community. Worst of all, there were too many people who would not quit an argument. Both sides decided they were right, and the other side was wrong, and who cares about those caught in the middle.
This was part of the reason I left without announcement, and I apologise to the good players out there who simply want to play the game that I didn't give them the chance to say goodbye. You were the only things that were keeping me going. Unfortunately, there were too many people out there that thought they were more important than the mod itself.
However, there is some good news on the horizon for the long lost DomWars Fan. I left my work unfinished, and that is something I do not like to do. While I am currently busy playing Everquest II (you'll find me on the Everfrost server under the name Marvolo) while also working on a home computing course (programming). I do want to find the time to finish what I started. To put up one last version of DomWars, then hand it over to someone else who wants to run the server & the online campaigns.
However, to do that, I will need an awful lot of help, while I can put together the core files themselves, I need people to work on the modelling, hardpointing and so on. If there are enough people willing to do that, then I will put together the final edition of the mod. It won't be what I planned for V5, but it will be enough.
