Name:
Matt Van Dam Title History
History: MVD started his wrestling career way back in the early 90's, training in the now legendary "Sambo's Den school of wrestling", Stoke On Trent England .Finding it very difficult to break into the sport in England, MVD made the pilgrimage to BattleCreek, Michigan, home of everyone's favourite wrestler Rob Van Dam. After meeting MVD backstage after an ECW PPV in 1996, Rob Van Dam soon saw the potential of the talented Englishman, and took him under his wing. For the next 3 years Matt Van Dam was a student of RVD and Sabu, during this time he won just about every Junior Light Heavyweight Championship on offer to him in Northern American Wrestling. Due to his unparrelled success and cult following, MVD accquired the persona of the "whole F'N show" more and more, every match and soon realised he could become more than even his mentor RVD could ever be! Having quickly learnt everything RVD and Sabu had to offer, MVD realised he must take the next steps of his development on his own and left Michigan to pursue a career in up and coming federation the PWF. Having met Mr Pellington, the owner of the PWF, backstage after a showing of Saturday night Havoc in 2000, MVD liked what he saw, and decided he would make the PWF his new home. Sadly due to circumstances beyond the control of Pellington, the PWF closed and left a young MVD fustrated, but he went way vowing to make himself as strong as possible for when his chance would return. This led MVD to a talent search spanning the whole world alongside his new bride Jennifer. The search led them to Holguin, Cuba, in which MVD accquired the services of a masked fighter Power G and his mentor McCoy. MVD returned to the US along with Power and McCoy after hearing the PWF was to re-open. He arrived on the very first Saturday Night Havoc of the PWF's 2nd incarnation and confirmed the unison of the "Green World Order" . The choas the Green World Order brought upon the PWF quickly earnt them many enemies, namely Rye Hazwaki and the anti-gWo faction "The OutKasts". Having foiled the
gWo on a number of occasions, MVD launched a master plan to annhilate
his only opposition. MVD finally ended his on-going fued with Rye Hazwaki
and retired him from the sport and during the World Title match with OutKast
leader Crusader Chrome, PWF commissioner Antonio Gambino joined MVD's
ranks and brought the PWF World Title to the gWo for a 2nd time. |
