Name:
Kilgore Background: The man known to his friend and enemies alike as Kilgore is actually the third brother in the illustrious Calvano family. He grew up with his brothers Logan, AKA Outcast, and Alex on the streets of Chicago and as a result he became a hardened individual at a very early age. Stability was non-existent throughout his youth so he and his brothers had to fend for themselves. They were far from being poor but the money never seemed to be where it was supposed to be due to his father. His father, a raging alcoholic and unappeasable gambler, never cared much for family life. When he was at home he would do nothing but drink and lay down his authority upon Kilgore's frightened mother with heavy hands and when he was away he would drink, gamble and sleep around with little to no respect for the things that really mattered. Fate did not smile upon Kilgore and eventually his brothers moved out due to their father, leaving him alone to tend to his now constantly ill mother. With the weight of the world on his shoulders Kilgore developed a dangerous and wild temper, which only served to get him into trouble both at school and with the authorities. He did not want to face expulsion from school, as it was one of the only things that kept him sane, so instead he found a way to channel his anger. He joined his school's amateur wrestling team and from that point onwards he became obsessed with wrestling, both amateur and pro. Things were beginning to look up. Kilgore's temper had subsided and he was doing very well on an academic level. He was also in peak physical condition by the time he reached college and he dominated the college's amateur wrestling league. By this time he was standing in at 6ft 7 and he weighed in at a healthy 260lbs of almost pure muscle, which was hardly surprising seeing as how his entire life seemed to be based around physical training and academics. He also held many amateur titles by this time, making him an imposing figure. To top it all off his father had disappeared and his mother was rapidly getting better and for the first time in his life Kilgore truly believed that nothing could bring him down. He was wrong. It all started during an amateur wrestling session. Most of the wrestling team refused to face Kilgore but the newest edition, a cocky young kid whom was as dislikeable as he was huge, stepped up to the challenge in an attempt to show Kilgore up. The same kid had been riling Kilgore up throughout the day, trying to get him to snap, but Kilgore had managed to keep his composure. During the match however the kid was focused on pissing Kilgore off and eventually he said something about Kilgore's mother, and that was that. Kilgore finally lost it and all the frustration and anger that he had kept locked away for so long came flooding back, resulting in him breaking the kid's arm in a fit of rage. This of course led to Kilgore being permanently banned from ever competing in another amateur wrestling event and the downward spiral had begun. The nail in the coffin came when Kilgore arrived home that day, just in time to witness his mother being loaded into an ambulance. There were a number of police cars there as well and when he asked what had happened the cops told him that his father had showed up out of the blue and had basically gone on a drunken rampage, smashing up the house and beating on his mother just for the hell of it. Kilgore was understandably shaken and he went with his mother to the hospital, where he stayed until she was fit enough to return home. 4Kilgore returned to college but it wasn't long before he dropped out. He couldn't keep his temper in check now that he had no outlet for his pent-up aggression and his grades were suffering as a result. His personality had also taken a dramatic turn for the worse and he became a bitter and cold man who shunned almost everyone. The only happiness in Kilgore's life came when he received a letter from his brother, Logan, concerning a new wrestling federation. the UPWF. It appeared as though Logan, who by now was one of the main stars in the UPWF, had put in a good word for his brother and had requested that he come stay with him in Los Angeles, the UPWF's base of operations. Kilgore didn't have to think twice about the offer and he promptly moved to Los Angeles to stay with his brother. Once there he wasted no time in signing up for the UPWF's developmental program and he began training at The Dojo, which was the UPWF's wrestling school. It didn't take long for Kilgore to impress his peers. Out of all the students he was by far the most impressive and his combination of raw power and unnerving speed garnered him more than his fair share of praise. He bulked up to 280lbs, confident that he could still move as well with a little extra muscle packed on, and then he started to incorporate various styles into his offensive repertoire. Kilgore wanted to be more than just another "big man" so he would spend hours upon hours training and practicing moves that would not normally be seen coming from someone of his size. He already had the technical side of things covered due to his amateur background so he sought advice from the one man who lived, breathed and slept the business even more than him. Luckily for Kilgore one of the newest UPWF superstars, Psycore, had taken it upon himself to work with the developmental talent. Kilgore had quickly earned a reputation as an incredibly stiff worker and, just like during his amateur days, many people were reluctant to spar with him. However, Psycore had no problem whatsoever with Kilgore's stiffness or work ethic so the two worked together in The Dojo, which wasn't surprising given the fact that they were both similar in their outlook's on life. Psycore taught Kilgore a number of innovations and he also encouraged him to work a few high-flying manoeuvres into his move set, distancing Kilgore even further from any clichés that could have possibly been associated with him. During his training Kilgore learned more than just moves from Psycore. He also learned how to ignore pain to some degree, as well as learning how to use it to his advantage. However, because they spent so much time together Psycore's influential ways took their toll on Kilgore's deceptively fragile mind. It was around this time that Psycore had to leave Kilgore to his own devices due to an intense personal situation, which did not bode well for the Chicago native. Although he had begun to think and act like Psycore there was no way that Kilgore could handle what Psycore put up with day in and day out. His emotions were governed by his sporadic temper and once again Kilgore fell victim to his lack of equanimity. He became difficult to work with and, unlike Psycore, his newfound lust for all that was morose could not be controlled. He took great pleasure in causing himself pain when in the ring and on many an occasion he would cut himself on purpose, insisting that he needed to feel that rush of reality just to keep him sane. Needless to say he became a cause for concern but before any official action was taken to repair his troubled mind the UPWF closed down, which didn't help matters at all. Shortly after the UPWF closed down Kilgore received a phone call from Alex, who had returned to Illinois a few months back to stay with his mother. The news was not good. Not only was Kilgore out of work, his mother had now been taken seriously ill and it became apparent that she would have to remain in hospital for the remainder of her years. Kilgore had once again come face-to-face with cruel fate and he decided to go back to Illinois for a while to stay with his mother. Kilgore's mother was not in a terminal state but nevertheless the doctors had advised her to stay with them due to complications revolving around the injuries that had previously been dealt to her by her husband. Kilgore stayed for a while and then he returned to Los Angeles, safe in the knowledge that his mother was in safe hands. However, the knowledge that it was his own father that had led to his mother being bed-ridden for the rest of her natural life played on Kilgore's already tormented mind and he was about ready to give in to depression. Once he arrived back in Los Angeles though he was surprised to find Psycore waiting for him. The two talked for a while and Psycore promised that he would try and help Kilgore overcome the "sickness" that had infected his mind. A few months later and a great deal of progress had been made. Kilgore, although still dangerously unhinged, had learned to keep everything just beneath the surface but before he could be fully cured Psycore's recurring personal problems intervened yet again, leaving Kilgore to try and work things out for himself. The old adage "what goes around, comes around" came into play soon enough though and Kilgore's future had been unexpectedly blessed with good fortune for the second time. A call from the PWF has proven to be a great morale boost for Kilgore. The offer arrived at just the right time and Kilgore is convinced that he can make this work now that he has learned to control his temper, if only a little. What happens from this point onwards is for Kilgore himself to decide. He enters the PWF a troubled man, which can only mean trouble for those who oppose him, and as of now the future is very much in Kilgore's hands. What he plans to do with it is anyone's guess but one thing above all else is certain. The PWF just became
an occupational hazard. |
