Title History

(x2)

History: Gambino was born and raised in New York. He was the son of the notorious Mob boss, and head of the Gambino Crime Family, Vincent Gambino. Several years ago, Antonio chose to take a different path than what his Father wanted for him. Gambino found himself wrestling in the PWF. His career in wrestling started out pretty slow, and he wasn't very successful. He soon decided that there was safety in numbers and he joined a group that called themselves, The Destruction Crew. It was a group full of rebels of rulebreakers, such as himself. He gained a bit more fame while in this group, but still was not satisfied. He wanted to be the number one man, the man on the top of the ladder. He staged an all out attack on the groups leader at the time, The Game, teaming up with several PWF superstars, including one of his worst enemies, Diablo. After this, Gambino assumed leadership of the group. Due to the groups rowdy, rebellious, and often offensive style and behavior, they dubbed themselves, The Ruff Ryders. The group included Destroyer and Devastator, AKA, The Twin Towers, the Top Doggs, and Gambino's good friend and right hand man, Showstopper. The group became notorious very quickly, and they were seamingly, untouchable. They soon joined up with another rebellious group, The Empire, who had a few things in common with them...hunger for power, and hatred for the group led by Diablo, Capital Punishment. The two groups ensued in many heated battles, even involving the PWF's owner, Michael Pellington, on many occasions. As it goes, Gambino eventually captured the one thing he wanted the most, the PWF World Championship after defeating Diablo in a very controversial match. He briefly held the title before losing it to Diablo in a Last Man Standing match. Soon after, the PWF closed it's doors and Gambino found himself without work. He recieved a call from Tre Pierce, who was opening a promotion called WVW, or World Virtual Wrestling. He took Tre up on his offer and soon made his debut in the WVW. He had several notable matches, such as the Triple Threat Table match against Demon and Plane Crazy, in which he captured the Intercontinental Championship. He held the title for quite some time, but the WVW did not last long. Due to unexplainable circumstances, WVW had to shut down. Luckily for Gambino, Michael Pellington arrived back in town, and word was out that he was opening the PWF once again. Gambino was welcomed back with open arms by PWF officials. Not because he was liked, as it is a well known fact that Gambino is a trouble maker, and has quite a nasty history with the PWF's owner. But instead, they welcomed him back because of his great in-ring ability, excellent microphone work, and his unmistaken ability to draw a crowd. Once again, Antonio Gambino finds himself within the confines of the PWF, in search of only one thing, the PWF World Championship.

On March 24th, 2001, this New York native began his second stint in the PWF, and immediately declared war with his old foe, PWF owner, Michael Pellington himself. At each others throats constantly, each man did whatever it took to screw the other over. However, things between the two would soon change. Another enemy of Gambino's, Diablo made his very unwelcomed PWF return, and waged war with Gambino. Diablo had seemingly joined forces with Pellington, and they set their sites on retiring Gambino. At War Games, Diablo and Gambino were booked in a Triple Threat Theatre Match, where the loser would leave the PWF for good. The end looked very near for Gambino's career, then it happened. Pellington screwed Diablo out of the match, and out of his career. It was evident, Gambino and Pellington were now allies. This was proven even more with Pellingtons decision to name Gambino as the new PWF Commissioner the next week on Havoc. Since then, Gambino has had many memorable fueds, namely Eraser, Showstopper, and then MVD and the gWo. Much to the dismay of the gWo, Gambino went on to win the Rumble in the Bronx. Winning the Rumble meant that Gambino would go onto End of the World to recieve a World Title shot, against the champion, Crusader. MVD had vowed to prevent Gambino from winning the match and title, and things looked pretty grim for Gambino's future. During the match, MVD made his way down to ringside, and it appeared that Gambino would be screwed out of the title afterall. This would prove to be untrue as MVD and the gWo proceeded to attack Crusader, taking advantage of the no DQ stipulation made for the match. Gambino pinned Crusader with the help of the gWo, winning the PWF World Title. It was evident, that the gWo and Gambino fued was all a sham, a plot to keep Crusaders suspicions at a minimum. Together, the gWo, and the Commissioner and Champion of the PWF held an evil hold over the PWF since that fateful night.

King of the Death Match pay per view, March 17th 2002: Gambino was set to defend the PWF World Title against one of his most dangerous and feared opponents, the leader of the Cult of Shadows, Bloodbath. The events leading up to the event were shocking to say the least, and it had seemed that Bloodbath had brought out a fear in Gambino that had never been seen before. The match was brutal, and just when it seemed Gambino would prevail, Eraser made his big return to the PWF and interfered in the match causing Gambino to lose the title. The aftermath would see Bloodbath also being attacked by Eraser, who seemed to have his own agenda. With no title, and hell bent on gaining it back, with a little revenge on the side, Gambino began to distance himself from the gWo. Over the next month, leading into Battle of Britain, Gambino had one thing on his mind; becoming World Champion once again. He had his chance, in a triple threat match against Eraser and Bloodbath at Battle of Britain. During the match, MVD decided it was time to show some team unity, and made his way to the ring with a steel chair. He swung the chair at Bloodbath, and Bloodbath ducked, causing the chair to crash directly into Gambino's head. Bloodbath pinned, 1...2...3, and he retained the PWF World Title. The next night on Havoc, it would be announced that Gambino was on personal leave from the PWF.

Almost exactly one month after his leave from the PWF, Gambino made his big return home....to the confines of the Pelican Wrestling Federation. While he was away, MVD acted as temporary Commissioner and along with the gWo, ran the PWF as he saw fit. He even awarded himself a title match against Bloodbath at the House of Pain pay per view, in which he gained the PWF World Title. Gambino has now returned to take back what he feels is rightfully his....the PWF World Title and his position as PWF Commissioner.
